What we
are about:
- The Insight Human Resource team goal is to improve and expand
the way we extract and report Human Resource data in an accurate, consistent,
and reliable manner utilizing the latest technology. When possible, we are
redeveloping our systems onto a PC and web-based environment allowing more
efficient data accessibility. Some of the employee information that we
typically provide include: status, gender, ethnicity, and campus locations. In
addition, faculty counts are available by rank, tenure, and age. The current
team accomplishments and future plans will allow us to meet user requests for
employee data in a more improved, proficient manner.

What we have
done:
- Human Resources SQL Database: Implemented a new database
design using SQL to increase data and report availability while decreasing
processing time.
Integrating PCT Data: Pennsylvania College of
Technology data was previously added to our reports manually. We eliminated
this process and now work with the college to obtain a data file that is
congruent with our databases.
Human Resources Data Reporting: To increase speed
and convenience, we developed backup book, data package, and semi-annual
headcount reports in MS Access and SQL instead of reporting from the mainframe.
Factbook Reports: 24 factbook reports were developed
into web pages that are generated from stored procedures that run against the
current SQL database.
Full-Time Employee EIS Model: Created a Human
Resources EIS model to allow various pulls from a September generated file of
full-time employee data.
IPEDS Web-Based Data Submission: Generated files to
upload to IPEDS via their web site.

- Full-Time Faculty and Academic Administrator EIS Model:
Creating a Human Resources EIS model to allow various pulls from a September
generated file of full-time faculty and academic administrators.
Reengineer the Human Resources Create Process:
Analyzing and restructuring processes to create the official Human Resource
data in a more efficient and timely manner.
FAA: Analyzing a more efficient process of gathering
information through IBIS for the Faculty Activity system.
AAUP and AAUDE Web-Based Data: Collecting and
submitting AAUP and AAUDE data via the web.
Elimination of Old Payroll Master File:
Analyzing the use of the old payroll master file, so that our systems are
modified to use IBIS elements instead.

What we plan to do:
- Data Package/Factbook Enhancements: Move currently
produced paper reports into a secure web-based system.
FAA: Create a design to use the web to collect
information for faculty activity reporting. We will need to look into using OAS
software and security (ELION).
Minority Data Collection: Update Minority data
collection and reporting based on Government specifications.
Preliminary Humors Process: Develop a procedure to
identify and correct data imperfections prior to the official file create
process.
