What we
are about:
- The Insight Financial Team is committed to improving the way we
extract and report financial data, such as Penn State's appropriation request,
operating budget, actual expenditures, Stairs-Rhoades Bill information, and
Instructional Productivity (Snyder) Report. We are developing a PC-based
financial database which will allow faster, more efficient data retrieval. We
are also converting many of our reporting systems to dynamically generate web

What we have
done:
- Fact Book
Financial Website
- Developed website detailing operating budget and
appropriation request information.
Public
Accountability Website
- Created website with links to operating expenditures,
operating budget, employee headcounts, salary data, and travel expenditure
reports.
University Budget Office
Website
- Created website with links to operating budget, actual
expense and income detail, including archived historical data, and
Penn State's common data set website.
Financial Data Base Working Group formed after
Financial Team Retreat.

- Goal: To develop a single data source which would be
platform independent, serve most of our reporting requirements and reduce time
lags present in our current data processing environment.

What we plan to do:

- Continue Financial Database Working Group Development.
- Begin development of a new version of Monthly Operating
Budget report from new Financial database.
- Begin development of a new version of Actual Expense and
Income report from new Financial database.
- Convert University Budget, Public Accountability, and
Factbook websites to use new Financial database as data source.
