* This year's Commonwealth budget eliminates more than $11 million in state funding from Penn State's Appropriation bill for three areas: Medical Education, the Central Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute and the Children's Hospital. It proposes to replace these funds with payments directly from the PA Department of Public Welfare (DPW), consisting of a combination of Commonwealth appropriations to the DPW as well as Federal Medical Assistance funding.
