THON, Penn State's Dance Marathon, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the nation. In February of 2006, THON donated over $4.21 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. THON started in 1973 and began its partnership with the Four Diamonds Fund in 1977. Since that time, students have raised over $41 million and have helped thousands of children and families fight pediatric cancer.

In 2005-06, 18,399 students received Penn State degrees, including 2,148 associate, 13,156 baccalaureate, 2,098 masters, 674 doctorate, and 323 first professional degrees Since 1855, Penn State has graduated 620,360 students.
