President Walker congratulates
Penn State’s 100,000th graduate
at the June 1967 Commencement.
In 1966-67, 6,008 students received
Penn State degrees, including 712
associate, 4,091 baccalaureate, 947
masters, and 258 doctorate.


In 2003-04, 17,828 students
received Penn State degrees,

including 2,291 associate,
12,372 baccalaureate,
2,297 masters, 580 doctorate,
and 288 first professional degrees.

Since 1855, Penn State has graduated 564,186 students.

THON, Penn State’s Dance Marathon, is the largest student-run philanthropy in the nation.
In February of 2004, THON donated over $3.5 million for the Four Diamonds Fund
at The Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. THON started in 1973 and began its partnership with the Four
Diamonds Fund in 1977. Since that time, students have raised over $30 million and have helped thousands of
children and families fight pediatric cancer. Shown in this photo are some of the participants from the 1980 THON.
